The artists are interviewed as aesthetic experts on their enactment of language in intermedia contexts. Selected works of the interview partners provide the focus for the conversations. Interview questions elaborate on artistic techniques, decisions regarding materials and media and hypotheses on media effects. Thus the conversations aim at locating and explaining the emotional and cognitive effects of linguistic media through aesthetic reflection. The interviews are recorded on video and will be transcribed. They demonstrate that the WAYS of systemic media research is WHAT it is about: media used by the artists – script, voice, video – are used for the collection and analysis of the interview data.
